I'll be happy when.....
by Alun
“I’ll be happy when….” Is a phrase that I hear quite often, and actually heard it from myself this morning! Talk about pull yourself up short when you hear it! I can’t believe I said that! However, no point beating one’s self up about it.
But let me start properly by finishing the sentence I heard myself saying this morning “I’ll be happy when I get the inspiration for this morning’s ‘Thought for the week’ “. And, of course, there was the inspiration! When I write my musings, thoughts, and blogs, I tend to write them as inspiration takes me. Sometimes that’s on a Monday morning just before they’re mean to be sent out, and sometimes they’re written days or weeks in advance.
The thing I live by is trusting that I’ll have the inspiration and guidance when the time is right to sit down at the keyboard and let the words flow. Having said that, the ideas usually start to come a day or two before so that I can really get into the feel of what needs to be said. However, today my guidance was really cutting it close! And now I know why!
Let me actually make these musings go somewhere….. Back to the beginning which, as Maria in The Sound of Music reminds us – is a very good place to start! “I will be happy when…..” There. That’s it. That’s the point of this. “I will be happy when…..” Do you see there’s a condition automatically placed on our happiness when we say things like that. It’s really not helpful for us to place conditions around our happiness because what we want may not actually happen. Further – if we keep focusing on the fact that it hasn’t arrived yet, and so we can’t be happy, then the Law of Attraction says that it won’t come to us at all! How annoying is that!
Over the years I’ve been writing my thoughts and musings I’ve talked about all manner of things, and some key messages have been that we need to focus upon where we are right now, and feel happy about it. There is absolutely no point in living in the past and regretting things that have happened. Similarly it’s really no better focusing on the future and fretting about what might (or might not) happen (remember, where thought goes, creative energy flows! You might just be creating what you least want to happen!).
So let’s pull all this together…. the Law of Attraction encourages us to focus on being happy in the Now. Eckhart Tolle, in his books and his work, also encourages us to focus on right here, right Now. Neither of these things encourages us to use phrases like “I’ll be happy when….” We’ve got to focus on being happier now, because only then can we move forward and achieve what we want. Keep focusing on the lack and that’s what you’ll get more of.
You might be thinking – I’ll be happier when I’ve finished reading this! And that’s fine
; Just as long as you are happy right here, and right now. A very good friend of mine has been using this affirmation to herself over the last week or so and it’s so lovely to see it on her emails to me. It always puts a smile on my face. It’s small things like that, that I encourage you to focus upon if you’re not feeling your best. Do whatever it takes to make yourself happy right here, right now. Play some music, read a book, watch a film you love, sing a song, go stand in the sunshine, call a friend, paint a picture, etc, etc, etc. Have you ever seen a dolphin that doesn’t seem to be smiling and happy?
;
We were born to be happy – not miserable. So if you’re not feeling happy right now, get off your bum, let go of sadness, anger, and fear, and find things about your life to be happy about. If you can’t find at least 5, right here and right now, I want you to message me! Remember the affirmation: Right here, right now, I AM HAPPY!
