There is nothing you cannot be, do, or achieve – if you believe in yourself that is. So often I hear people telling me “I just don’t believe in myself – that’s just the way I am”. Now prepare yourselves because I’m going to be blunt with you – that’s a cop out. To say “that’s just the way I am” to something that you know is not a strength is failing yourself and those around you. It’s also quite lazy and dishonouring. It says to me that a person can’t be bothered to change and also that he or she does not honour themself enough to make the effort to change. What these people tend to do though is really honour and support those people around them. They’re great at supporting others and complimenting them on their strengths without acknowledging or developing their own.

Now I know I’ve been quite blunt here and I know that it, potentially, will push buttons with some of you who are reading this. At the end of the day my view about that is “GOOD!”. If it pushes buttons in you it means that the message is hitting home. It’s time to stop living in victim-hood and choose to change in positive ways. I’m not saying that a person can change overnight – that would be miraculous indeed. However, overnight one can decide to begin to change. Change is a constant thing and there is not a day that goes by without something within us growing and changing. Some things will happen automatically and some will need our attention, our time, and our tenacity.

Within us all, is the perfect being – all we are doing is chipping off the outside to reveal the beautiful and perfect soul that we each are. Someone reminded me of the song by M-People about “The Hero Inside”.

Sometimes the river flows but nothing breathes.
A train arrives but never leaves.
It's a shame.
Oh life like love that walks out of the door.
Of being rich or being poor.
Such a shame.
But it's then, then that faith arrives.
To make you feel at least alive.
And that's why you should keep on aiming high.
Just seek yourself and you will shine

Search for the secrets you hide.

Until you find the key to your life.

As the lyrics of the song suggest – only we can build the bridge to connect with our inner hero – no one else can do that for us. We each have a hero inside of us, all we need to do is search inside and connect with it. As Marianne Williamson also says – our greatest fear is not that we are powerless but that we are powerful beyond measure. Our hero within is incredibly powerful – it’s time to stop denying it and waiting for it to come save us. We must search within.

So, whether or not this has pushed a button in you, do take time to search within and really connect with the powerful you. Allow your hero to shine through and there will be nothing, absolutely nothing, that you cannot be, do, or achieve.
