rain and rainbows.....

by Alun Email

I was thinking this morning how much I like listening to the rain, how it patters, softly on the garden outside. I love sitting at the computer with the window open feeling the slight breeze blowing in from the garden, with the rain falling outside. The old saying came to me as I sit here "you cannot have rainbows without rain" which also reminded me of another, similar phrase "if life gives you lemons, make lemonade".

It's very easy, isn't it, to complain or get upset about some things that happen to us or around us. Those two sayings, which I really love, just help to bring it back to us that we can choose how to perceive and how to respond to life. We can be grateful for the rain that helps to make things grow and restores the water table, and helps to give us rainbows, or we can bitch and moan and feel bad because we can't go out.... or can we?! Why not let the free child out and go stamp in puddles and run around in the rain? When we were children we used to do that and get told off for getting wet.... clothes can dry, as can we. We can put our plants and flowers out in the rain to be watered. We can put our crystals out to be cleansed. We can have fun in the rain. And, if we prefer, we can stay indoors and do things indoors instead.

It's all about perception really isn't it. What we decide to think and feel in relation to situations and things that happens to us and around us. It's still raining outside and so, I'm going to go stand in the rain for a bit and be rebellious! :D
