What do you want...?
by Alun
When was the last time you spent time thinking about what you really, really want? Do you know what you want? Really, really want? You might even want a zigazig ah!
Seriously though, do you know what you want?
It’s worth understanding that there is nothing that you want that the Universe could not and would not provide for you. It’s also worth understanding that you and the Universe are not separate. The only thing that stops you from receiving what you want… is you.
Knowing that you and the Universe are one and the same, it makes sense then that when you receive, you are ultimately giving to yourself. So if you’re not getting what you want, it makes even more sense to ask yourself “why on earth wouldn’t I give myself what I want?”. The list of answers to that question is almost as limitless as the list of things you could ask for!
Often we don’t receive because we don’t believe its possible to have what it is we want. Or because we don’t believe we deserve to receive. Or even because we don’t believe we’re powerful enough to create it.
The thing is… none of those are true.
Absolutely nothing is impossible in this Universe – because we live in a Universe of infinite possibilities. The problem, or should I say “challenge”, with that is that our little human brains just can’t grasp the concept of Infinity. We place limits around everything, and mostly around ourselves.
You deserve to receive purely because you exist – and you can never, ever cease to exist. And so you will always, always deserve to receive that which you want.
In terms of being powerful enough: Let me draw on part of the quote from Marianne Williamson “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate, but that we are powerful beyond measure”. We don’t touch into that power for so many reasons – partly because we fear we may create something that will harm others, partly because we don’t believe we are that powerful, and partly because for thousands of years we’ve been told that only God has that power to create.
Well that last part is true. Only God does have the power to create. But given that God is everything that power also lies within everything. I know that this last part may touch a few raw nerves in some and I do not apologise for it. We must each speak our Truth as we understand it. I speak my truth not in condemnation or contempt for others, but with love and acceptance.
But here’s the thing about wanting… all too often we focus on what we want from an Ego perspective (which is laced with fear). “I want more money” “I want to be respected” “I want to feel safe” “I want other people to….” And so on. There is nothing wrong with wanting a safe, abundant, and happy life. Our challenge is that we so often think that other people are stopping us from getting what we want, when there is no way they really can. We also only get cross with other people when they don’t do what we want OR in the way we want them to. End of. Ask yourself, why should other people do what you want in order for you to feel peace, loved, and centred? Why should other people do things in the way you want in order for you to feel good about yourself? How do you feel when others expect YOU to do what THEY want in they want you to?
If we all just focused a little more on loving and accepting ourselves, and acting from a place of centredness, we’d finally get it that there is nothing that we cannot be, do, or have that would bring harm to another.
Get out of the Ego, and into Loving Consciousness – then ask yourself “What do I really want?”.
It’s worth taking some time each morning of every day to breathe, clear your mind, focus upon your Heart, and then ask yourself “What do I want?”. You might be surprised at the answers. You deserve to receive everything you want, What do you want?
"Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." Ohhh, what a good one this week! Indeed, we ARE ABLE to 'get what we want' as long as it does no harm to others. (That's where the Ego comes in.) For example, if we "want" to have the man/woman next door to engage in an affair with us, that would be harmful to all concerned. So, that particular "want" will not (and should not) come to be. The Universe takes over and shows us the correct path of loving.
Sometimes it takes a long time for humans to learn that 'we can get what we want' WITHOUT DOING HARM to others and to ourselves. Ego-speak!
Once we humans finally settle into the life of loving-kindness, indeed - all things are possible to come our way!
Thanks for this brilliant blog!
Love and Blessings,
Marianne
We cannot ever do harm to others unless they attract it into their experience and, also, we cannot harm them really because we are all infinite, indestructible living, loving, Source.
All things are possible completely... and once, as you say, we surrender to loving-kindness and centredness we will realise how powerful we are....
So glad you enjoyed the blog, Marianne... so... what do YOU want? :) xx
many blessings to you too
