In response to: Routinely Changing.....

Alun [Member]
Thanks, Jays.... I agree too about meditation working well for change... helps to centre and stay calm during the transition :)

I agree that losing routine altogether can be unhelpful. Routine helps us to plan our time and, as you say, do some things we don't necessarily enjoy doing. However, even when working through routine, I do believe that we need to be mindful. When we go on autopilot we are not living in the Now.... autopilot means we are not living in the present.

And yes, having routines "pushed" upon us is not a great thing I know! :-) Choosing to follow a routine that works for us is the best way, but not allowing that routine to make us like mindless zombies. :)

Thanks again for your input - it is very much appreciated :)
Blessings

In response to: Routinely Changing.....

Hi Alun,

I enjoyed reading this article. One thing that I know works very well to helps us be prepared for change is meditation - especially mindfulness meditation.

The trouble with giving up all routine thought is that we often need routine to help our brains switch off from time to time. We rely on routine so much especially when it comes to doing things that are good for us but which we don't much like doing. Instead of relying on self-discipline we try to form good habits by creating routines. I guess what I'm wondering is whether it's such a bad thing to be able to go onto autopilot?

However, I understand the point you're making about making choices especially 'if we don’t like the routine someone else is pushing on us'.

I look forward to reading more of your posts,
Jays

Superb post Alun! Agree wholeheartedly that intention is key and to act from a centred position separate from the shenanigans of our ego. When we do so, we do also for others, modelling how human beings can behave with each other all the time.

Oh that I was enlightened enough to manage that 24/7... I think that might be called 'heaven'!

I attended a lovely Mabon/Autumn Equinox celebration in north London with a group of open-minded folks whose event was listed on UKSpirituality. There are celebrations of the Wheel of the Year eight times each year: equinoxes, solstices, and the dates between those events.

In response to: Asking for help.....

Happens to me every week when I go shopping. I am not that tall, and usually have to ask someone to help me when stuff is too high on the shelf. No one has ever refused. Mind you I do make easy contact with people, no problem with that! Although mind you I know my sister would rather struggle than ask for help. We are both very different in that way!

Hi! This is my first visit to your site. I enjoyed your blog and know all to well about the power of staying positive. I will never give up as even though it can be exhausting to feel you're the only one encouraging everyone else, if you don't do it the consequences to others and ultimately to your own life will be awful. I truly believe positive vibrations spread and multiply. Love G

In response to: Multi-tasking: good or bad?

Martin L [Visitor] · http://cray.com
I thoroughly agree with you Alun. Whenever I try to multitask too many things I always feel the stress levels rising.

There was a time in my life that I strived to multitask everything I did, up to the point of spending too much time deciding the best and most efficient way to perform the multitasking. This caused so much stress I found it affecting my health. I made a conscious effort at that point to multitask just enough but concentrate on what is in hand.

After all, one of the Reiki principles is to be diligent in your work. Maybe this is what that refers to.
